Laboratory & Testing
Laboratory & Testing
The Laboratory at Parkland Medical Center is an integral component of the hospital. The laboratory is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Laboratory results are available through the hospital's computer system and through chart quality reports. Most of our physicians are directly connected to the hospital computer system through their offices and have direct access to results.
The laboratory is accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and has scored consistently in the upper 95th percentile in onsite inspections. Participation in proficiency testing through CAP is ongoing to ensure accurate test results.
Lab Staff
Each department is staffed by experienced Medical Technologists/Technicians, who are responsible for technical aspects, maintenance, instrumentation, quality controls, proficiency testing, patient test management and policy formation. A full service Blood Bank Department staffed by experienced Blood Bank personnel enables the laboratory to handle routine and complex transfusion testing.
