Early screening may be recommended if you have a family history of colorectal cancer. Our oncologists proudly offer advanced diagnostic testing and treatment.
Colorectal cancer symptoms
Cancers of the colon and rectum are the most common and preventable types of cancer in men and women. Early detection and treatment can prevent colorectal cancer from developing and improve your chances of a full recovery, especially if you are 50 years old or older.
There are signs you may look out for if you are concerned about colorectal cancer. You should schedule an appointment with your physician if you experience any of the following symptoms:
- Abdominal discomfort
- Bright red blood in your stool
- Decreased appetite
- Diarrhea or constipation over several days
- Feeling weak or tired
- Sudden weight loss
Colorectal cancer treatment
Recognized by the ACoS's Commission on Cancer, our care program features compassionate physicians who develop personalized treatments based on your unique cancer diagnosis. If surgery is required, our skilled cancer surgeons offer the latest minimally invasive techniques to remove colorectal cancer and repair intestinal tissue.
Surgery is the most common form of treatment, but we may also suggest chemotherapy, biotherapy or a combined approach. We also perform preventive colorectal procedures to remove small polyps, known as adenomas. Following surgery, chemotherapy may be prescribed for follow-up care, especially if your lymph nodes are affected.
