Pain management care
Your pain management team may encompass specialists from other areas of our hospital, including primary care, spine care and physical therapy. To help improve your quality of life, we use the latest approaches, including noninvasive and minimally invasive techniques.
Our pain management doctors can address chronic and short-term pain with a range of procedures, including:
- Epidural steroid injection — This procedure involves injecting steroids into your neck or low back. Sometimes, a local anesthetic is injected with the steroid. These injections may be used to treat herniated discs.
- Kyphoplasty — By inflating a small balloon and then injecting cement into the fractured vertebra, our pain specialists can treat VCF with this minimally invasive surgery.
- Medication injections — Our pain doctors perform sacroiliac joint injections, transforaminal steroid injections and trigger point injections to help you manage pain.
- Nerve and facet blocks — This therapy uses a local anesthetic and a small dose of steroid to perform a nerve block for specific areas of your body. The nerve block can also be used to diagnose which neural pathway is causing chronic pain.
- Radiofrequency ablation — This treatment blocks pain messages to the brain, using radiofrequency energy to heat nerves, nerve endings and other tissues.
