Breast imaging services
As part of our ongoing commitment to early breast cancer detection, we offer you a variety of diagnostic testing options, including mammograms and biopsies.
Digital mammography
A mammogram is the best way to detect breast cancer in its earliest stages. Our breast health specialists use advanced digital technology that combines 2D and 3D scans to review images and double-check your results. Digital mammograms offer several advantages over traditional mammograms, including:
- Adjustable images with our computer-aided diagnosis system
- Improved imagery near the skin line and chest wall
- Instant image sharing with consulting physicians
- Less discomfort for women with larger breasts
- Quicker exams with images that can be displayed quickly
Our mammographers are certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART), and our program is fully accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR). Once a test has been completed, board-certified radiologists will analyze the images and report the results to your physician. Results are usually available the same day as your procedure. When a mammogram detects abnormal tissue, we offer multiple options for breast imaging and biopsy.
Scheduling your mammogram
You can schedule your mammogram online or by calling our scheduling department at (603) 421-2458. When scheduling, tell us about:
- Any breast implants
- Any recent breast surgeries or biopsies
- Previous mammograms taken at other facilities
- Whether you’re nursing or think you might be pregnant
Mammograms are done at the Lahey Comprehensive Breast Health Center at Parkland, located on the hospital campus off Birch Street.
Breast biopsy
Breast biopsies are highly accurate, minimally invasive procedures used to locate abnormalities and remove tissue for examination. Biopsies are often used to identify small irregularities that are difficult to locate by hand, and can help us determine if you have cancer.
Breast care nurse navigator
Breast cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment can be an overwhelming experience. Our nurse navigators can help you every step of the way.
Personalized care
If there’s any indication of cancer, we’ll connect you with a breast care nurse navigator. They can answer the questions you have, make appointments on your behalf and coordinate care with other women’s care services as needed.
